My First Design

10 days on the needles and all night on the computer getting it written up and I think it is ready.

I designed, knitted, and wrote my very own pattern. I am now on the final step... finding some test knitters. If you're interested, please just leave me a comment with your email and I will be in touch with you.

And We're Back to Knitting...

I just recently discovered a wonderful knitting podcast that I just had to share.

Alana from NeverNotKnitting produces a great podcast with lots of tips, pattern ideas, product reviews, and knitting stories.

She has been podcasting for about 2 years, but I've only recently discovered her and am currently trying to catch up on all of her old episodes.

You can check out her blog at NeverNotKnitting.blogspot.com and her podcast can be found on iTunes or at her blog.

Check out her funny podcast theme song.

Knitters aren't really like that... at least that's what I keep telling myself.

A New Right of Passage

I can remember, growing up, how I used to fight my brother to sit in the front seat of the car. Man, we yelled and picked at each other so bad. That front seat was a special place to be.

And then... along came air bags - and kids everywhere were resigned to the back seat.

Well, we crossed a new milestone in our family this week, my baby girl started riding in the front seat. We decided that she is big enough now that the air bag no longer poses her a threat. She had been up there a couple of times in parking lots, riding from one end of a shopping plaza to the other, but this week it was the real deal.

I know it may not seem like a big thing, but it was. I didn't even think it was a big thing until it happened. She seemed a bit nervous at first, her eyes were wide and she didn't talk much, but as the week went on, she became more and more comfortable.

I didn't realize how much I was missing without her in the front seat next to me. We talked before, but you know how it is, it's almost work to shout (over the car sounds, air conditioning, and radio) from the back seat to the front seat. But it's easy now. She talks more and we can interact better. I love it.

They're Not For Me

It seems that I have a lot of projects going on right now. Some of which are Christmas presents, so you won't see them just yet, but I thought I'd share something I whipped up today...

Baby booties! And no don't get any ideas, these are for someone else.

I used Yarnthrower's Seamless Baby Booties Pattern (Ravelry Link). It was a nicely written pattern that was easy to read and follow. I modified it just a tiny bit. The pattern called for a DK weight yarn and size 5 needles. I used a worsted weight with size 4.

The booties knit up very quickly, so they would be great for a last minute baby shower gift. They took a total of about 4 hours to complete.

The only thing is that they look a bit on the long side, but I don't have a baby foot to measure them with. After I get feedback on them from the recipient, I think that I will probably have to go down at least one needle size for a better fit if I make them again.

Let's Try This Again...

I know I've said this before, but I'm going to try to start blogging on a more consistent basis again. (What, you mean every 3 months isn't consistent enough? ;) ) Only this time, I won't make any promises.

Most of my time (probably old blogging time) is now spent knitting up a storm, so that is probably what you will hear the most about. :)

Right now, why don't you check out some exciting stuff going on in the life of my hubby. He's made the AP wire.

I'm so proud of him. He is knowing what God has called him to do and going for it even though some of the critics aren't always kind, don't understand, or are downright mean.

He is living out Hebrews 12:1:

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

He knows his race and is running it. How could life get any sweeter than that?

And bonus... It made Bri happy, because she could do her school current event project on her daddy. :)
